IMPRESSIONISM, FASHION, AND MODERNITY
I just returned from The Met’s new exhibit, “Impressionism, Fashion, and Moderntiy,” which I highly recommend for anyone who loves fashion and art. My favorite part of the exhibit was seeing one room devoted to the white dress next to one room devoted to the black dress. Each had spectacular paintings and dresses from the 1800s - often the same exact dress as in the painting - and wonderful explanations of the importance of both colors in fashion history.
You can find out more details about the exhibit here. It runs February 26 through May 27 at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, 1000 Fifth Avenue.
